I use plex to serve my own media (videos) to my friends and family around the world. People on the reddit thread are posting that they have received an email saying that from 23rd March a plex pass is compulsory to watch your own media. I have received no such email. Is this true?
Reads like an announcement from 2025. You’ll need a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to stream media outside your home network (remote access).

The announcement from 2025 applies to mobile, Roku, Plex Desktop, & Plex Web clients. Starting March 23rd, it also includes Smart TVs.
