I’m seeing the same. For some reason it is not found.
I am digitalizing my DVD’s. I am linking all different MKV Files coming out of the DVD. But I Always can Play only the “first” MKV file. The rest remains unvisible. But the total file reflects (from the size) the whole DVD. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for help
What do you mean by that? If you link the segments, as shown in the how-to, they will become only 1 file afterwards. This will then play as one long video.
Btw, there should be no need to link them. For extras and bonus material there are better ways to get them into Plex.
And tv shows are an entirely different subject.
e.g.
IL_MONDO_CHE_VORREI_LIVE.iso
I get two files:
title_t01.mkv 8.1 GB
title_t02.mkv 74,4 MB
I link them to
title_t01 (1).mkv 8.17 GB
whereas the second file is the end tilte of the film.
Playing that file stopes after the first file.
Strange?
Are you using makemkv? You should.
Then the issue might rectify itself.
The size of just 8 GB is a but suspicious, though. This was probably ripped by someone else. And no-one knows what this person did, that might cause the failure.
ok.
I “burned” an ISO file to the desktop.
Then I used MakeMKV to generate MKV files:
Then I got this:
Impossible to add “part 2” which is the end title to “part1”.
What can be the reason?
You can’t link these because they are different. Look at the audio streams.
Part 1 has 2 audio streams, one pcm and one DTS
Part 2 has only one stream in ac3
You can only link two files which are identical in their technical parameters, be it audio, video or subtitle streams.
Thanks for all your assistance.
My conclusion is:
MakeMKV makes out of most of the DVD’s one big MKV file which contains the main film. The rest is additional material or even promotion for another film.
But there are some DVD’s I have where MakeMKV makes e.g. 5 MKV files which are the chapters an can easily linked together.
So I have to check every single one what is in it…
Yes, that’s true. I do it too.
