hi i have a few movies plex is saying its a duplicated of 1 movie but they are 2 different movies… if i do the split apart button the 2nd movie isnt detected by plex or the file name isnt even added
first example is
First Blood (1982).avi
It Came From Hollywood (1982).avi
plex sees the comedy movies as Rambo and when you click spilt apart it cant be found
2nd one… Plex sees these both as duplicate of Strike back
Jay And Silent Bob Get Old Tea Bagging In The UK (2012).avi
Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (2001).avi
i have more but that just a couple… and why doesnt plex let you do the “fix match” to multiple duplicates instead of just the first file of the dups… there is no way to fix match of the 2nd one…
i tried to adjust the agents for the movie naming but didnt help… frustrating
Please show the folder structure you are using.
Are all your movies together in the same folder or are you using one subfolder per movie?
Do also look out for .nfo files. If you have those in the same folder with your videos, it can throw off the matching, if it contains an IMDb ID that doesn’t fit the movie.
If your files were previously named differently (and caused mismatches), you need to dance: The Plex Dance ™
and what about the rambo and a cheech and chong movie they linked the same but arent
ill try to move the 1 jay silent bob one
i got other ones… and is there also a way for plex to display the movies or tv shows that werent added to the server since it couldnt find a name for them
I have a suspicion: you are using 2 additional folder levels underneath movies.
Plex is looking at the folder name where the video file is situated to get additional hints for a proper match.
But in your case, the folder name is misleading, because you are using folders to “group” movies.
Try this: add yet another folder level inside the Cheech and Chong folder and give every C&C movie its own subfolder, named just like the file (Movie Title (year))
in my unraid server i set the /data root to /videos
in plex when i specify for All Movies i do /videos/movies
in plex when i specify for action movies i set it to /videos/movies/action
in plex when i specify for comedy movies i set it to /videos/movies/comedy
and so on
for tv shows i do
/videos/tvshows/comedy
/videos/tvshows/action
It Came From Hollywood (1982) is also not a movie.
You may want to try setting The Movie Database as default agent for this library. It may have better matching for this type of content.
i have 1 more question if you know
so i have tv shows broken down as
/videos/tvshows/action
/videos/tvshows/comedy
and so on
in plex i have the shows set action /videos/tvshows/action
and so on
but if i set a folder for All Tv Shows and set it to /videos/tvshows
it messes up big time
i guess it cant do that
and the reason i ask if plex can find other videos is i have off my dvds behind the scenes for tv shows that arent on imdb and arent in the tvdb site when i use a renamer and i wanted to watch them through plex but they never show up
ah ok is there a reason why its forbidden… will there ever be a fix
ah ok so extras no good… will such things as extras and stuff not from tvdb website be an option
i also noticed the tvdb site some of there shows are not in the order they actually were ment to be in … it sucks not 1 website can be acculturate… but hey the program works… i been backing my movies from vhs to computer for years years before netflix and had my own media server… but there was none of this stuff with pictures etc just my file names…
i do like most of the features of plex just wish they improve on some…
and can you tell me why the Fix Match button doesnt work
i have Loose Change (2005) and loose Change Second Edition (2005)
both linked to same but for Loose Change 2006
i did the nfo thing and that didnt help… i did the Fix Match and choose Loose Change 2005 but it did not do anything
i re deleted the plext folder and tryin again to make sure i get no duplicates
but why doesnt the fix match work really keeps going back to 2006 when i said its 2005
and i know its not a movie its a documentary… but how you supposed to classify them in plex… as i put them under movies option
I can only recommend you to create a separate library for documentaries. Then set TheMovieDB as the primary agent for that.
If you have mp4 files, you also must make sure that they contain either only correct metadata or no metadata at all.
