I’m not sure how that metadata gets added, am I correct in assuming that this information is user generated? I’ve noticed occasionally I would find “personal touches“ like personal opinions etc. listed in this information. When I do, I pull up the content in my Plex server and I remove the personal opinion content from the meta-data. I don’t know if these changes are going through the entire system though. It’s one thing to have personal feelings about certain actors or producers etc., but when you are creating meta-data for content it should be 100% neutral and free from personal remarks. I’ve never known who to talk to about this, but I run into this issue a lot when I am adding content especially if it’s recent content. I’ve come across things like “this movie sucks“ or “this actor/producer etc is an SOB“.
You have some legit posts on this forum. This one was one of my all time favorites- Plex Player - "Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video."
If this is a serious response, aside from being off the thread topic again you may want to look at who has access to your server/computer. Obviously metadata doesn’t usually say “this movie sucks”, someone has access to your stuff and is inserting that manually.
I don’t know what a previous post I have forgotten all about has to do with this, I really don’t give a ■■■■ about that post or what anybody thinks about it. But I am glad that it has offered you some amusement or something. If you read that particular discussion, if somebody had just been a little bit more polite then I would have taken it down, but instead, they were rude, kind of like you.
But if you don’t think personal or politicized descriptions get stuck into the meta-data then you’re not paying attention when you’re adding your content. Nobody has access to my Plex server other than me, this is content that I have added to my Plex server and the meta-data that gets pulled into my library from the system sometimes contains weird personal or politicized entries.
This is why I am asking who is responsible for editing the meta-data, is there a small group of people that are responsible for the media descriptions that we see, or are we all responsible for it, whenever we make changes in our media descriptions? Because I would not want my own private descriptions to be seen by anybody else. But somebody is responsible for politicizing and personalizing certain media descriptions, adding little comments whenever there is a disfavored actor or producer mentioned. Particularly involving Miramax films, that would be a good place to start go ahead and add any old Quentin Tarantino movie and look through the meta-data and I’m pretty sure you’ll find some of the things I am describing particularly with a certain producer that was involved with that company, Who I shall not name.
I would prefer media descriptions not include crap like that regardless of how I personally feel about it.
Another example was a particular Perry Mason episode and the meta-data that came in compared the antagonist of the episode to Hillary Clinton. We really don’t need to see crap like this. Now of course, I immediately edited that description myself and removed her name and stuck Ivanka Trump in there, but I hope that is only in my personal library. But the fact that somebody who is responsible for standard descriptions decided to politicize what I am to see, nobody should be doing this. Media descriptions should be 100% neutral.
Please access the Plex XML info of some of the affected movies and episodes.
Copy the content of the guid="...." element into your response post.
Thanks- I have edited a lot of the instances I have found, I suppose I can try to reset some of the ones that I can remember, I think I know exactly where to look for one example, i’ll send it to you when I can get to it.
