Meta Data - Provided By Plex?

Is the meta data shown in Plex self generated from Plex?

I have a program called Media Center Master, which generates meta data but wondering if I delete it all and allow Plex to generate it’s own?

Plex does not generate it. Metadata comes from links with the IMDB and the TVDB.

Hmm, sorry I wasn’t quite clear.
Is this meta data saved anywhere? The text and/or images?
If so, how often is it updated?
If so, where is it stored?

Plex will gather most, if not all the required metadata for items in online databases ONLY if you name and structure your material in a way Plex can understand it:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/naming-and-organizing-tv-shows/

https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/media-preparation/naming-your-movie-media-files/

ANY other naming and structuring method may work, may work for a while, or may work right up until it doesn’t work.

Proper naming and structuring works today, tomorrow and the next day.

Plex stores metadata in its own database. It cannot be directly accessed/modified/etc by the user.

If your media contains embedded metadata, Plex can be configured to use it. See info on “Local Media Assets” in “Metadata Agents” support article.

Be aware much media available on the internet contain “junk metadata” unrelated to movie/show/song name, year, etc. Such information should be cleared from the files before loading into Plex, as it can interfere with Plex correctly identifying the media. This is especially true if Local Media Assets is preferred over other metadata sources.

You can manually refresh the metadata for an individual movie/show or for an entire library. See “Scanning vs Refreshing” support article.

You can schedule certain metadata related tasks. See “Scanning vs Refreshing” and “Scheduled Tasks” support articles.

That’s okay.
I’ve used Media Center Master for years, which renames files as per the Plex standard, so films are nested under a folder of the same name, TV series have a named folder, then season 1, season 2 folders and the actual video files inside those (named appropriately).

Ford Guy and I both know - we don’t like being told everything is ‘Perfect’, only to find out a month later, it’s not perfect, and we wasted a month.

How 'bout a screenshot?
(we’re running low on blood-pressure meds)
(and at least one of us might not make another month)
