I read about migrating Plex from one device to another here. However even here it references that it’s not supported to migrate OS types.

I’m sure i’m not the first person to ask this question. But before going around to external sites, I thought I’d see if anyone on the official forums has asked it. Haven’t found any results so far. Any advice/tips would be appreciated.
currently running server 2012
going to be running Ubuntu Desktop (easy, stable, well supported, Server is more than I need)
Media is located on external NAS. I’m looking for info on migrating the databases and settings.
Thanks
I have ‘moved’ my plex database from NAS to PC, PC to NAS , PC to Drobo,
There is one file you need to move (and only move when both server software is Off)
***\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases*com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
the new location will still do some work setting up but this will have all your watched shows .
You will likely have to re-setup your media locations pointing to the media location as per when u first set up Plex
Occasionally I had to delete com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm and com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal at the new location to get plex server to start.
@spikemixture
This file includes Plex Server settings, watched/unwatched flag (for all users), metadata on media?
I ask because I have had to manually name a few movies that weren’t matched correctly and I don’t have a way to go back and find out which shows those were. It would be a real bummer if i moved them and they were auto matched to the wrong show again without my knowledge.
I do have some Channels installed but I have no problem getting rid of them. They aren’t really used.
If you had to manually fix matches (which you should only do if other measures fail!)
then you have only one chance: edit the database and change the file paths from Windows style to Unix style.
I’d install Plex Server beforehand on the target system and put a few media in it. That way you can study the database and you can see how those folder path references look like on Unix.
@OttoKerner
Sounds like good advice I appreciate it.
Just to clear things up I did put a bit of research into making sure i was using the correct media agents, and that my files were named appropriately, before I manually selected the correct match. But again appreciate you dropping good advice
I will try to do this in the next week or so and report back here with how it went, any hiccups, resolutions to hiccups, etc.
Thanks guys!
