Missed recording

On Sunday my dvr did not record the new episode of bobs burgers. It’s not even in the schedule even though I saw a new episode there earlier in the week.a new episode did air on Sunday, so why didn’t plex record it?

I also suspect this is happening to other shows even though I don’t know with certainty that it is happening. What is gong on here??

Same thing happened yesterday to me. I had a new recording scheduled for Bull last night. This morning, the show isn’t there, and there is no indication that it was ever in the queue. I’ve had nothing but issues with the Plex DVR. I’m really regretting blowing $119 on a lifetime sub for something so unreliable.

Possible same issue?

I think it may be the same bug. I remember seeing that recording on the guide earlier in the week because I was excited about it, but it did disappear.

Is it typical for Plex to not respond on the forums to this kind of issue? I’d like to know that they are working on it or are at least aware of it…

It takes some patience, I’ve found. There are only so many employees patrolling the forums. The Ninjas are a bit more responsive, but they’re unpaid volunteers. Sometimes an issue needs to get some traction before it gets noticed. I’ve found once someone gets on the scent of an issue, and the more serious it is, the more likely it will get addressed.

Give it a bit. It looks like we’re not alone… It will eventually get picked up.

That is good to know, thanks!

I also noticed it isn’t just prime time shows that are dropping off. I had a recording scheduled for 3 and 3:30 am almost everyday, but it hasn’t recorded in almost a week!

I’m trying to find a work around, so I removed that recording on the schedule and set it back up. Maybe the scheduled recording became corrupt? We’ll find out out that helps tomorrow morning.

It looks like this is coming up as a good working theory. I’m told that Plex double checks data before actually starting the recording process. In my case, an episode may have lost it’s “NEW” tag between scheduling and recording, causing the instance to be removed before recording takes place.

Another decent test would be to set your show to record ALL episodes to see if that solves the problem.

In my case, the two shows I know this is happening to are set to record both new and old airings.

Just so everyone is aware I have traced down an issue where Plex was showing a recording for NCIS on my system last night up until 17:06. A guide refresh was running and finished at 17:08. At 17:09 the NCIS show was cancelled. I have a screenshot I had made the day before showing the episode as scheduled as a New episode. I have filed an incident report for this issue.

Thank you, @johnm_ColaSC!

I have noticed ALL of my missed recordings are from 7-8 pm Central time.
The missed shows are listed in the recording schedule until the day they should be recorded, then they disappear.
I started missing shows on March 11, 2018 (day of spring forward time change).

That’s when my shows started to disappear. Right after Daylight Savings Time.

The first missing one I noticed occurred back with the first episode of Living Biblically which aired on Feb 26th. Also, my missing recordings appear to be 7-8pm area. So far, I’ve been limited to CBS only.
