Does anyone know why my scheduled recordings are disappearing?

For the past month or so I have noticed that some of my recordings start to disappear the day that they are to be recorded. Here are 3 pictures (sorry for the resolution, I took them pretty quickly)) of it. The first being the day before, the second being the day of(just after midnight), and the third being after a system restart. Does anyone know why they disappear? It seems to be happening to only shows that error at 7pm or 7:30pm. The recording that is missing is the new Supernatural episode.

I have the same thing happening Brooklyn Nine-Nine missed twice at least and The Big Bang Theory just disappeared between last night and today.

@StammesOpfer Its all around 7pm or 7:30pm right? I know Brooklyn Nine-Nine is.

Yes Brooklyn Nine-Nine is 7:30. Big Bang Theory is 7:00 but as of right now Young Sheldon at 7:30 (right after Big Bang Theory) is still showing.

I tuned to CBS during Wheel of Fortune 6:30-7:00 right now and it says Young Sheldon is next at 7:30. So it just completely forgot about a 30min block of time that it knew about yesterday. I did a complete program guide update and it did complete but that did not correct it.

Edit: And now during The Big Bang Theory it is listed as “Unkown”

Do you have the more frequent program guide refreshes enabled? If so try turning it off.

I found a guide refresh running in a set of my logs when a show disappeared. It was there in the afternoon and with a 5:00 update it disappeared. Plex Engineering is researching the issue.

I did have it enabled though I turned it off today after seeing it causing other kinds of guide issues.

Did you restart the Plex Media Server after changing the setting? Since it was just changed today let’s see what happens tomorrow.

The Exact thing happened to me with The Big Bang Theory last night… and next weeks new episode isn’t showing up either. I’ll try to disable the more frequent option and reboot after to refreshes…

the suggested fix did not work for me.

This is an issue that has a bigger thread going
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/311965/items-falling-off-epg-before-dvr-can-record-them#latest

I have posted logs and have been noticing it for the same times and time period as you suggested. I have restarted my plex docker multiple times as it keeps needing an update with no change.

The issue appears to be with the Gracenote download and the way PLEX updates its EPG so restarting will have no effect. You may want to shut down automatic guide update and do it manually when the scheduled recordings are getting close to the end. This should at least stop shows that are already scheduled to record from disappearing on you

@johnm_ColaSC I’ll try to disable the frequent updates and hope that works.

How would I do that if above doesn’t work?

Just go into settings on the server and select Scheduled Tasks and uncheck “Perform refresh of program guide data”. That will stop plex from updating the EPG on its own and will require you to perform the updates from the DVR settings screen. This way, you decide when the EPG gets updated.

@“Tom Bonini” That worked for last night’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine but when I turned my pc back on this morning the new episode of Legends of Tomorrow was gone. Any ideas?
