I have a TV series that have been on the Plex server for almost three years. It has seven seasons, each with each season in its own subdirectory. I found that one of the files had the wrong audio and re-ripped it. When I added the new file to the show’s “Season 3” directory (replacing the old file with the same name (SE3E05.mp4), the entire season for that show disappeared from the list in the player.
I’ve now removed the entire show, from the library folder, rescanned the entire TV Shows library, deleted the trash, moved the directory back into the library folder and rescanned, but the entire TV series is not showing in the player. All of my other TV series show up correctly.
At this point, I’m at a loss as to what I can try next. Any suggestions?
If the naming convention has changed, then why do all my other dozen or so TV series using SE vs. S0 work without any issues? When I originally setup the server, I found instructions to set the file names to SE#E## and everything has worked until recently (and the only problem was when I updated a single file in one of the subdirectories).
PowerRenamer in Microsoft Power Tools is helpful for simple renaming with pattern matches or regular expressions. It makes quick work of tasks such as adding a year to file names, removing undesirable text from multiple files, etc.
Use the same naming structure for all episodes. If you mix match the pattern, PMS gets confused as it needs to see a pattern to properly set the episode order.
I definitely agree with that. I’m just not sure why SE#E## worked for that last few years, but as soon as I replace a file with the same name, Plex has issues. All of the other TV series that I have where I have SE#E## continue to work. At least with the rename of all of the files for that series, it’s back up and running and the wife is happy.
