After the latest Plex Server Update 1.18.0.1913 the option to filter list of Movies, TV Shows, News, Sports etc is no longer available, what happened, this was a very good option to review what movies are being broadcasted and allow me to record, I could then switch to TV shows and see a list of TV shows on my TV Guide as well.

You can still show all airings covered by the current EPG data for Movies, News, and Sports. Select Live TV & DVR -> Recommended (tab). In there, the Upcoming Movies, Upcoming News, and Upcoming Sports links show all airings.

However, you are correct that Shows is no longer represented in this manner, and it is missed by at least a few folks; there are other threads discussing this.

Definitely needs a small update to re-introduce these filters as part of either recommended or as a sub-filter under Guide where it used to be. I donā€™t trust their AI on making sure I keep access to upcoming X to what they think I want to see.

Recommended isnā€™t really AI for upcoming movies, news, sports, etc. As stated above:

All is not AI ;^)

I have a very basic question - can find the upcoming movies just fine - but what type of sort is it applying since itā€™s kinda wonky - shows a list from now till Nov 13th or so, but then the date restarts back at today and goes th Nov 13th again. I have been ā€˜marking the last reviewed movieā€™ with a recording - that I remove later - but that doesnā€™t work if the sort is so wonky, gotta re-review the whole list weekly???

The issue being discussed here was resolved in version 1.18.2.2015:

  • (DVR) Ability to browse upcoming airings in a library style view (#10556)

I just tested this in the only Android client I have (a 7" Fire Tablet) and am able to browse all TV shows. To do so, go to Live TV & DVR and scroll to the very bottom of the page. There should now be four options to select from: Movies, News, Sports, and Shows. Selecting any one them will show all airings for that type of content for the period covered by your guide data.

My Android Plex app version is 7.23.0.13018, running against PMS 1.18.2.2029. I assume it would be the same for other Android devices.

I just got a notification and updated PMS to 1.18.2.2029 about 10 minutes ago. At least that fixed the PC interface

Interesting. I just upgraded to 7.24.1.13771 and no longer have the options I described earlier. Iā€™m not terribly concerned as I donā€™t manage my recording on that device, but the regression is strange. Hopefully it will be addressed in a future update.

I am not too concerned either now that I can manage on my PC again. It was a problem when it was gone on the PC then gone on the Android device as well.

The problem now is that the PC version only shows the browse screen under Live TV&DVR. Not showing options to switch back to the other views across the top.

We discussed this issue in another thread:

One of the moderators (@OttoKerner) was able to reproduce it, and filed a bug report. So, hopefully, that too will be addressed.

In the meantime, the desktop Plex app does not exhibit the problem (version 1.4). And thereā€™s always Plex Media Player.
