I use the Web browser to schedule recordings for my Plex. I recently discovered that an update has removed (or maybe moved and I am missing it) the ability to sort by movies or shows. I used this feature to view upcoming movies that I would want to record OTA. Any help is appreciated.
Iâm having the same issue on the browser. It does show me upcoming movies, but not upcoming TV shows⊠at least not all of them, it will list all upcoming sports and news shows⊠but I never wanted them. The way it is, itâs almost impossible to catch old shows you want to record. It will show new ones airing that evening⊠but again⊠youâd have to be looking each day. I have two NVidia Shields I use⊠the one is useless like the browser, the other has an extra line of selections at the bottom and I can sitll get All upcoming tv shows thereâŠbut only there. I hope they fix this soon.
Same here, apparently the âDiscoverâ view has gone MIA. I hope this is only a glitch and not an intentional change. Curiously, it still seems to be present on the Andriod app (via cell phone), but I hardly would want to select recordings that way. PLEX folks, please let us know whatâs going on!
I think theyâve moved it to where it normally says âChannelsâ at the top. Thereâs a âMoviesâ and a âShowsâ (TV shows) option in the pulldown now, which show you whatâs available given your current setup.
You can then filter the view using the next item along the chain, again at the top.
[edit: Apparently Iâm still using the old UI
]
To get the list of upcoming movies on the new UI:
- Click on âLive TV and DVRâ on the left-hand menu
- Click on âRecommendedâ
- Scroll down until you see âUpcoming moviesâ (with a house icon for some reason ??)
- Either constantly scroll left to see another 4-5 movies (depending on how big your icons and window are), which is a truly awful way to do it, orâŠ
- Click on the âUpcoming Moviesâ text, and see the movies a page at a time as before.
Iâll let other people comment on whether thatâs as easy to use as the older versionâŠ
Also, what I donât see is any way to get a list of all upcoming shows, like you can in the old UI. I see âmy upcoming showsâ but thatâs the shows Iâve already decided to record - there seems to be a bootstrap problem here, unless youâre just supposed to use the guide.
I having the same issue. On the âLive TV and DVRâ page, I used to click âChannelsâ and then âMoviesâ to see only the upcoming movies within the guide. Now I only see the options for âAllâ and âHD Channels onlyâ
Thanks for that info. I think it is more clicks to get to the movies list now. I do like how they added the DVR Schedule in the Live TV and DVR section, but it harder to find things to record, IMO.
Hi,
So there is still no way to see upcoming tv shows?
Correct.
You can see upcoming movies by:
Live TV & DVR
Recommended
Upcoming Movies
You can also see âNew Episodes Tonightâ but nothing beyond that.

We just got a new version (1.17.0.1841-d42cfa161) and still no âUpcoming TV showsâ in the Live TV & DVR/Recommended section. Are we S.O.L. on this one forever?
So far no one seems to care to fix it. I created an android virtual machine to do it⊠so far it will still list all upcoming shows like the browser use to.
Yep! The Android app has it and the web interface doesnât. Progress.
Maybe itâs time to revisit Emby.
I switched to Emby six weeks ago due to this issue. It is not as slick as Plex USED to be, but at least it is functional.
I stream away from home too much, from what I know Emby does not support that?
It supports remote âon paperâ but I have not used it that way, so I canât comment to itâs capabilities in that regard. I still have Plex running on my NAS (but not connected to my cable TV box for recording), so I can still use it to play content. I just pointed Emby to the same directory where my old Plex recordings were. Everything Emby records shows up in Plex.
Emby has most of the same capabilities. What is lacking are (1) commercial removal built in (2) automatically remove TV episodes after they have been played. Emby is also open source (making security and privacy less of an concern), even so, I stick with Plex because it is more polished and capable.
If Plex doesnât fix it (the TV Shows - all listing issue)âŠand break the android capability at some point I may have to check into it.
Emby is no longer (fully) open source; it has not been since at least 3.5.3.0. This is the primary reason Jellyfin exists. So while there may be other reasons to consider using Emby, being open is no longer one of them.
