My plex appdata drive was failing, so I decided to start from scratch and do a fresh library rebuild on a new SSD. The library and metadata build finished a couple of days ago, however there’s about 15% of the library still missing metadata. Even on movies which have matched correctly, sometimes the cast images are no longer showing images.
A manual refresh of metadata on individual movies seems to work, however a full library scan does nothing. There are a decent number of items in the library so manual processing is not a great option.
I tried the “plex dance”, optimising the database, rebooting, however the missing items just won’t budge. IPv6 is off on router and in plex, Media is organised by radarr according to the plex file/folder guidelines.
Is it possible that old metadata got copied back to the new drive, perhaps by moving folders rather than just files?
You described only one failure if I read correctly, where a film matched to IMDB or TMDB and that it populated the film details page with correct plot, director, etc., yet it can’t display all the cast pictures. Is that correct?
Are there more examples of failures that made you feel you needed to Plex dance?
This sounds like an issue with Agent selection, perhaps Agent prioritization, or perhaps you are looking for things that won’t be done until the next schedule kicks in, three days from now.
Are you confident in how you’ve set up your new Plex software for Agents and tasks?
Thanks for the response. No database / appdata was transferred, the new database was built 100% from scratch.
I checked under Settings > Agents > Movies > Plex Movie
I had “Local Media Assets (movies)” prioritised above “Plex Movie”. I’ve changed it and rescanning, will report back in a couple of hours.
Right on. When you look under “Movies > Plex Movie” as your agent selections, you’ll see on that list you referred to that there is a gear icon to the right of “Plex Movie.” Those additional gear settings are directly related to this topic. Maybe something there for you.
Ok 3h into my library refresh and it looks like that fixed it. I feel pretty silly going through so many troubleshooting steps while ignoring something simple. For anyone else interested, below is a screenshot of my current settings (my libraries are set to use “Plex Movie” as an agent. Prior to me posting here I had “Local Media Assets” at the top, this was the default setting.
