Need Help with Metadata no longer being found for TV or Movies

I have been a happy Plex Pass Subscriber for a few years now and have always had on and off metadata issues like I’m sure we all have experienced but nothing that really affects the overall experience. Now I recently updated to a Nuc 7th Gen i5 and moved my Plex folder over from my old Nuc i5 but now no new metadata is being found or loading. I’ve tried disabling IPv6 and even tried different Plex server versions but nothing works. Basically it will search for Metadata but after a while say nothing is found, both for the TVDB and Movie Database. I’ve also searched through quite a few topics on here and Google in general and have found nothing that helps.

I appreciate any and all help!

Thanks,
Jeremy

Nobody has any ideas?

Check the agents it is searching with. Every so often, mine reset and go based on local media assets first, instead of what it should be. These scenarios require rearranging the agents properly again, and then manually matching the stuff that you just added since.

I’ll give it a go when I get home tonight, thanks for the tip! I may have to post a pic of what my settings are though as it appears that personal is locked along with the movie database on a different tab. Also I tried a different program to get Metadata and that didn’t seem to work either so it may be something with my computer settings blocking it instead?

This is what I have for my agents. Scans properly, and finds most everything.

I don’t even have the option for Plex Movie Scanner? Something is definitely wrong with my setup but I have no idea how it happened…

Also Personal media seems to be locked…

Yeah, I am not sure on that one. If you are a Plex Pass subscriber, you SHOULD have that option. So I am not sure why you don’t. Outside of manually matching your movies/shows, the only other advice I would have is to attempt rebuilding your library from scratch.

If you moved your Plex data folder over from a different computer, there may be some access permissions which are not correct.
If you use Windows, you may need to reset all permissions for the folder, so the Windows user account under which Plex Server is executed has full access.

Only do this, while Plex server is shut down!

After doing the above, do also perform a ‘repair’ installation of Plex Server, using a freshly downloaded installer .exe

  • Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
  • deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
  • for safety, reboot Windows
  • download the installation exe of the newer version from ‘Downloads’ link below and install it
