@sixones
I have some old Disney movies in mp4 with aac sound and avi with mp3 sound that will not play in exoplayer V2 but will in the old exoplayer. The mp4 file yields only audio but no picture. I was able to create a sample file of each. The file name is C.mp4 (cinderella.1950.mp4) and the other is SB.avi (SleepingBeauty1959.avi). The avi file will do nothing but give an error.
Sample files: dropbox.com/s/gzzkcgx2fwlbef8/cinderella.1950.mp4?dl=0

Just downloaded and installed 3406.The sample of cinderella plays but the original file is still not playing video or audio. The Sleeping Beauty sample and the original full file still yield the message above of lost server.
Unfortunately the ability to disable the new player is now gone as well. Log attached.
Thanks for reporting and including samples, will take a look at the sleeping beauty sample to see why it’s failing.
@sixones
It seems to be those older avi and mp4 files that get hung up. I have some files that sometimes will direct play and sometimes not. I tried to duplicate it with a sample file but could not.
Here is another log of another mp4 that sometimes plays direct and sometimes wants to play direct but then decides to transcode and that is when the play back fails. The app freezes and quits responding and wants to close.
@audiomixer Can you provide the XML for that video? I’m seeing this in the log and want to confirm.
refresh rate: 23.938
That is not a standard frame rate for videos.
@“MovieFan.Plex”
Indeed, it is 23.938. That whole season is like that. They vary 23.931, 23.942, and so on. That old sleeping beauty and Cinderella file XML is attached as well. It will not play no matter what.
BTW, all these files play fine with the original exoplayer. Could you guys still allow switching the new player off until this is sorted out?
Not sure if this will fix your problem but there is a new beta out now, v6.13.0.3406. Maybe give that a try.
Yeah, I posted this thread just minutes before the beta was released. The second post is using 3406 but no change. It did fix playback of iPhone made .mov though and v2 has fixed a few mkv files that would never resume nor fastforward without starting the movie over.
The Sleeping Beauty sample had a bad MP3 packet, I’ve made a fix in our player that allows files with bad MP3 packets to play. Should be released shortly to Google Play.
If you still get issues with Cinderella on the new beta, could you try and make another sample?
Can do. What about those other files with variable frame rates?

I couldn’t find any videos in my collection with those types of framerates. Can you provide a sample of this too?

Just installed 3418. Sleeping beauty now plays normally. Also that hawaii five O also is playing normally. Attached is a sample of it anyway since it show a frame rate of 23.848 or there about. Cinderella completely refuses to play however. Attached a new clip of that. XML file for cinderella is linked in post 6 above.

Just installed 6.13.5.3450 and the Cinderella file in the post above still will not play.
Chiming in - “Plex Shield is still broken with 6.13.5.3450”
Perhaps my issue should be in the Beta section, but the new bug is in the Public version.
We have rolled out 6.13.6 with a fix for the playback issues in 6.13.5.
@audiomixer Could you confirm whether you still experience issues with Cinderella in 6.13.6?
@sixones , it still will not play.
