Hi, currently I have the DS1815+ Syno NAS running my PMS. This is great, but I’m finding an increasing number of times where the network plays up and needs to transcode the files… which the syno can’t cope with.
As an example, I have all media ‘handbraked’ from a full blu ray mkv rip into a 4.5mbps mp4 file. Generally this works great, but if I want to use subs or if I’m watching remotely and my connection drops below 4.5mbps then it needs to transcode.
I’ve got a spare mac-mini quad core 2.4 i7, so I’m thinking of putting the PMS on that and use shares from the syno.
So a couple of questions:

on a win pc I could create a network location to the various shares… what’s the mac equivalent or do I need an app to keep mounting the shares (the mac seems a bit hit or miss as to whether it maintains the connection to the shares

I’ve found the following article for migrating the library, but it says it specifically doesn’t cover migrating between different OS’s… can anyone point me in the right direction of the additonal steps i need to take (I’m only really interested in maintaining the libraries and metadata,/posters etc…I’m happy to re-config users etc) https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201370363-Move-an-Install-to-Another-System
