Hi. I have a similar problem, however the behaviour in plex varies.
If I follow the guide mentioned above, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
I have needed to increase my storage, however I have content in 2 locations, both internally to the computer, and externally on a NAS.
I have successfully moved my internal content, by simply copying the content to my new Internal drive, using exactly the same folder structure, then swapping my drive letters.
However the problem I am now having is moving my content from my NAS, to my internal storage, and the same problem occurs whether it be a movie or a TV series.
My library references both locations, and I have disabled “Empty trash automatically after every scan”
I then do the following…
- Copy a folder with its content to internal drive, into a separate location OUTSIDE of the Plex library references.
- Leaving the original in place on my NAS, move the copied folder into my internal referenced folder. After a moment, Plex runs a partial scan, finds the content, and now I CORRECTLY see 2 copies for each item (the little blue 2 against each episode)
- I run a full scan of the library to ensure that all is well.
- I go into each episode to ensure each shows 2 copies.
- I now MOVE my original folder from my NAS location, to somewhere OUTSIDE of the Plex library reference, and after a moment, Plex runs a partial scan and then the following happens on what seems to be a random basis…
Either…
The content successfully stays in the library, now only showing that there is 1 copy of each item (Success!)
or
The content now shows a Rubbish Bin symbol against it, and of course, if I was to Empty the trash, it would be removed from my library.
Like I said, this behaviour changes almost every time I try this, and occurs whether it be a movie or TV Series.
Any suggestions?
My setup is…
Plex Server Version 1.7.5.4035, hosted on an HP ProLiant Server, running MS Server 2012 R2.
Many thanks…
Andy
