So then which thread is the current “Starting to understand the Team’s priorities” thread since that one has been sunk? (ie. you can’t bump it anymore).

That’s sad to hear. I’m pretty happy with emby. The only thing I am missing is plexpy. And maybe a little more vibrant forums^^

I was very envious of emby about a year ago, but with Plex implementing DVR (WITH a free EPG), HW transcoding, collections, remote streaming max bandwidth, auto quality, etc. I feel that PMS reached emby’s level and even surpassed it.
Now they really need to fix the clients… PMP is getting there but thats taking way too long, PlayStation app is a disaster, etc.
I have to admit. Plex is starting to do it’s homework but since I prefer the focus to be on the HTPC client, PLEX is still far behind. PMP is not getting the new features first, if it’s getting them at all^^
Can anyone who move from Plex to Emby answer my concerns below, I’ve been having problems with Plex and might move everything to Emby.
- Does Emby have a good support of multiple NAS drives (local and remote network drives) ? I have 3 local network NAS and 1 remote NAS.
- Can I use Google Drive mounted on Windows PC with Emby ? Currently Plex can do that as it sees the Google Drive as a normal drive (G:)
- Does Emby have good playback support for HEVC 10 bit files and Remux files ?
- Any issues with DTS audio ?

The way you create libraries is very similar, so yes it can use your 4 NAS, and mounted Google drive.
Hevc works well, probably better than Plex depending on clients because they don’t rely on the platforms native player.
DTS again will depend on the client, but I haven’t faced issues.
Emby, like Plex, will play anything it can access/read. So, yes, your NAS and Google Drive are fine.
Video and Audio work very well with Emby on all my plattforms (tvOS, iOS and Linux). So you prob. won’t experience problems with HEVC and DTS.
thank you I think I will experiment with Emby because I found Plex have some problems that starts anbnoying me and require to do the mysterious Plex Dance or remove all libraries and start from scratch to fix things.
Emby’s m3uTuner in LiveTv is extremely awesome ans easy to setup.
Now I can watch p2p live streams (noxbit, acestream) without any issues. With plex it was a pain with additional plugins and buggy.
But I must admit plex client looks decent as well as Chromecast support isn’t so glitchy.

Can you explain how to acestream to emby?
I’ve only just finished moving to Emby and I finally have a functional DVR. The Plex DVR did work, until it didn’t. Support was non-existent so this user became non-existent.
I found Emby a little harder to set up and with less-polished-feeling UI than Plex. More importantly, I found Emby to be completely functional in the end. I find the additional features/settings in Emby more refined. This time around I will wait longer before considering a lifetime sub.
I am sure your mileage may vary, but if you have had it with Plex support, there is an viable alternative.
Hmm with recent issues with plex I might consider emby more but the upload of videos from your phone is a killer for me it is the one feature I love about plex even though it has bugs.
I find myself now using infuse since the new version intergrates with plex.
Add me to the swath of folk that have successfully migrated to Emby. I’ll cancel my plex subscription soon!
As for a final comment. Plex, you seriously need to sort your support out. The guys over at Emby are fantastic in their responding to customers (paying or not). Whereas over here we’re just screaming into a void.
What makes you enjoy emby over plex??
Emby itself seems to be a lot smoother than Plex. I find the interface to be a lot nicer. But the primary reason I chose to move was their excellent support. Over there, you get the lead developer responding to your forum posts. Here, Plex will rarely respond.
My biggest issue with Plex is with Sync - it hardly ever works right. I run Plex Android on my Samsung Chromebook Pro and it refuses to ever mark a watched show as watched and sync the next episode unless I re-mark them while on the LAN. And even then I usually end up rebooting twice to get the sync to happen.
Plus, Plex on Android on Chromebook refuses to see my SDcard and only uses the small amount of native storage.
Does Emby do this better?
