Hello, all
I’m migrating from binhex’s container to LSIO’s container, because the latter supports hardware accelerated hdr->sdr tone mapping on Intel processors. Binhex is looking into it, so absolutely no shade to him (and even if he wasn’t: his work is free, so ‘gift horse’ and all that), but I want this function on the short term.
The only thing I really need to migrate, is items’ watched status for myself and my clients. I followed these official instructions and the process completes without error. Before migrating, I even checked whether the servers and libraries have the exact same Agent settings.
Despite my efforts, the watch status for TV Series was not successfully migrated. Things I had viewed recently were migrated properly, but older things were not. Movies was successful, however.
What I ended up doing (for now - I can always re-do the migration as my old server data is still available) was copy the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file to the new server’s folder and overwriting what was already there. The result was that the libraries were indeed migrated, but every file was missing as the folder mappings were slightly different. That was an easy fix though and after that, everything is now correct, partial progress and all.
That feels like a super rough, hillbilly tech, error-prone way of going about it, and I’m not proud if it, but it did work for now.
So I’d like to ask you all: why did the official migration method partially fail for me and can I expect problems with my alternative solution?
Many thanks.
