Moved library and now everything transcodes instead of direct play

I had a Plex server running in Docker for quite some time. It was relatively stable and pretty much all of my video played without a hitch. I mostly watched on Apple TV occasionally iOS and almost everything was direct play.

I’ve recently moved my server into an LXC container on Proxmox (essentially I did rsync -avh /docker/config /lxc-root/var/lib/plexmediaserver). After doing so nearly everything transcodes. Not a deal breaker in general because the machine has plenty of horse power. But it is transcoding everything to 1080p (h264) and OPUS. This is especially problematic for my 4k HDR content.

I’ve tried a fair bit of troubleshooting (removing library and re-adding it, cleaning and optimizing database, etc). I’m not really sure what to do get all of this straightened out. I feel like it’s a codec issue but I’m not really sure how to validate that hunch. There do not seem to be any errors in the logs.

One thing I’ve noticed, is that on a fresh install of PMS in a LXC container (e.g., without the rsync) and with the same video files there is no transcode and the direct play works. So I’m inclined to just blow the thing all up and start from scratch. But I don’t want to loose my DVR schedule.

What are some suggestions? Is there away to backup and restore only the DVR stuff?

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112

SOLVED by following the steps in this post by @OttoKerner.

After restarting it took a few minutes for everything to rebuild but now direct play is working as expected.
