The instructions on Plex worked nicely - though maybe if the instructions were grouped by OS as moving from one IS to another is not recommended - I went from Mac to Mac and it all went smoothly.
I will note it reads more complicated than it reads - at least on the Mac side.
Maybe I was doing a clean install but easy. Sign out of PLEX. Copy the PLIST (instructions on support page above), & copy Plex Server DB onto a backup HDD/SSD (my DB was 25 GB!). I erased my HDD, installed a clean OS and a new download of Plex & the Plex Server. I copied over my PLIST and Plex Server DB in the exact spot (following. the above instructions) and then started up the Plex Server and signed into Plex … and my Plex page essentially looked the same from when I signed out of the old machine, NICE! There were a couple minor poster issues but manually fixed.
Important to follow the instructions 100% as the Mac has several “Library” folders so don’t put your files/folder in wrong one - just follow the instructions - as noted, it might be easier to create a separate WIN-MAC;-Linux.etc section so people can just go to that section for their OS but otherwise, pretty easy. Thanks, Plex.
On that note, I would still like if the poster portion of the DB could be backed for paid users? It did ‘default’ to a bunch of random poster art that I gad to go fix … for instance, I prefer the one-sheet art as the placeholder as that’s how I know the movie and not a giant photo of the actor with a fake movie title font in its place … it’s great if people prefer that but nt for me and I painstakingly go through each one to pick my choice and I have a ton of media (30+ TB and my plex server DB is 25 GB) so hope you consider adding that. Thanks.
