Moved PMS to new Windows11 pc...had to reshare libraries

Howdy all…I moved my Plex server to new windows machine last week, and I used to procedure described here…https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/

All my content is in about a dozen libraries on local and network drives and I made sure all drive letters were the same…no major issues with the migration when I fired up the new install. EXCEPT, all my users had their shared libraries removed…I had to manually reshare the few libraries I normally share with external users. This happen to anyone else? ….any idea why?

Did you export and import the registry data?

If you did, did you run both old and new server at the same time?

Yes, I exported and imported the registry data. No, old pc w orig server has been powered off since I started the migration.

Could it be because I didnt sign into the new instance until AFTER i imported the registry?

When I installed PMS on new pc…I quit when it said installed complete….and since the new cost model earlier this year, maybe it didnt know I am lifetime plex pass until I signed into the new instance?

If you copied the whole plex data folder AND the registry data, then your server will already be signed in when you start it.
You might have to sign in the web app, but that doesn’t have any relevance to the server. They are separate things.

One thing to keep in mind when creating new servers and libraries: Always reload the web app in your browser after doing so. This ensures that the web app always contacts plex.tv for the most current server info, instead of using cached (an possibly stale) data.
