Moved server and bought Pass - watch history gone

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685

I bought Plex Pass yesterday and moved my server from a secondary account over to my main (reclaimed it). Everything worked fine except that my watch history is gone.

I have sync enabled but it doesn’t seem to populate locally on the server, only if I view something through discovery.

What’s extra weird is that I can see my account twice on the dashboard. It seems like it has registered all of my watch history but it doesn’t associate it with my account. When I watched something yesterday it registered that as a new instance so my account is visible twice.

Is there any way to recover and associate my past watch history on the server again?

That means you switched the user account. Which means a different Watch History.

I only moved the server from one account to another. The user watching (jedijens) is still the same. Please see attached photo showing the same user twice.

As of currently, your server is not shared to other users. So it is unclear to which plex.tv user account it would have synced its plays.
Creating a new user and giving it the same name as an older user account does not mean that it assumes the identity of the older user.

Previously the server shared to my account (jedijens). I then moved the server to my account (jedijens). It no longer has to share since I watch with the same account as before. The only difference is the server is associated to my account instead of another.
To clarify I have NOT created a new user, it’s still the same but Plex doesn’t recognize it. Discover has all my watch history though and it won’t transfer to the server,

That explains it.
The server owner always has the user ID 1 in the server database.
And before, the server owner did not do the playback. It was a shared user – which means it had a different user ID, different from “1”.
But now the playbacks are done by user ID 1. So in the database, the historical playbacks are assigned to a different user.

Syncing playbacks to the user account would not do anything for this view either. It only affects the user’s Watch History that you can reach if you click on the user avatar top-right and then on View Profile.

The only way to move these old playbacks over would be to directly edit the database and change the old user ID in the appropriate table to 1.

Thanks a lot for this! User ID was the issue.

Never used SQLite before but with the help of another thread and ChatGPT I managed to fix it and my watch history is back with my user.
