Watch history not migrating

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764
Player Version#:

I’m trying to migrate my server. I installed a new OS drive in the same server for more space and to upgrade from Server 2016 to 2019. I have followed the instructions on Plex.tv for migrating a server install, and everything seems to have copied over except for my watch history. I saw another article saying to use SQLite to move the watch history, but the instructions aren’t quite there for me to follow. I am not sure how to do that on Windows. Any advice on getting my watch history to move over? I don’t want to have to setup and pay for something like trakt, I’m hoping to figure out what would prevent my watch history from showing or get some help with using the SQL commands to move the watch history over.

Are your media files now accessible under different drive letters/share names/folder names? If not, it should all have worked seamlessly.

Did you forget to transfer the Registry branch?

My media is available under the same drive letter. I didn’t have to change anything there, and the files play fine. I did move the registry branch.

Then the play history should be identical as well.
What kind of symptoms are you experiencing regarding the history?

The history appears to be absent. Everything is unwatched.

And you are sure that you are not currently using a different managed user account than you used before?

Same account.

Try to go back to one of the backup copies of the main database file: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

Finally got it working. Apparently something with me having it setup as a service with NSSM was keeping it from working. If I disabled the service and ran it normally, everything was fine. But if I ran it as a service it seemed to think it was a different server and no watch history. Weird. At least it is working now.

I am using nssm for my server as well.
You need to run the service under the same Windows user account (the one you are using to log on) and not as ‘SYSTEM’ or ‘Administrator’ user.
Otherwise it will create and use a totally different data folder.

Gotcha, thanks for all your help!
