Movie is not marked as played

I have a movie that is not marked as played even if I watched it.
It always shows as 70% watched.
I tried to:

  • view the end of the movie: it is marked as played then after a few seconds it gets back to 70%
  • manually mark it as watched: it is marked as played then after a few seconds it gets back to 70%
  • manually mark it as unwatched: it is marked as played then after a few seconds it gets back to 70%

I did the above from the latest version of Plex player on Android, Fire TV and Web player

Any idea

2 possible reasons:

  • you have somewhere a Plex client running with this movie in “paused” state (could be a forgotten web browser tab or a suspended Playstation or Roku etc )
  • your plex database is damaged
  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

Think about making a managed user account for your daughter. Then her watching activity won’t affect your “watched” indicators and vice versa.
