Plex Marking certain shows Watched and Unwatched when there now!

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Hi

I’ve used Plex for years but the last few weeks it’s started doing something new.

I have watched Breaking bad and marked watched BUT it keeps putting it at S03E01 to Continue watching and I’m on Season 3 of Only fools and horses and keeps marking most Watched and telling me to watch next which is S06E01.

I mark them watched and Unwatched, deleted series from HDD on PC and re added and cleared PC Cache but it keeps doing it.

Only with these 2 shows and first time it’s ever done this in years.

Any ideas?

See if you have other Plex clients/ browser tabs with Plex player in perpetual Pause mode of these episodes.

Do also check the “watched” status of all episodes of these shows. It can sometimes have unexpected results if you have episodes marked watched/unwatched out of order.

Hi

I’ve looked there’s no one else watching and noting on pause, I’ve selected the entire show and said mark as played and it does then after a rescan it returns to the same state in same episodes.

I say remove from continue watching and it does then again later it re appears.

Check the health of your database:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

This is not the server log, but the client log.

Post the zip file, don’t copy and paste the actual text from the log.

There appears to be indeed at least one client in perpetual Pause state:

That says Bedroom 1TV so gone on my Firestick and again on that Plex App clicked “Mark All As Read” and all goes to 0.

I’ve done this on PC and other Firesticks.

I even deleted the entire thing and root folder from PC Plex then re added and it does exactly the same.

You need to close the player on that client. It is clearly reporting a Paused playback to the server, causing the playback position of that episode to always getting reset to a particular position.

Ok, I’ve just cleared Cache, Data and uninstalled and reinstalled and I’ll try again

Hi, nope that didn’t fix it issue is back :person_shrugging:t4:

Did you perhaps swap Firesticks around (or even lent them to someone else), so that you actually treated the wrong device?

No they’ve been in place for about a year, all very odd, only those 2 shows and nothing before.

Do you have Watch State Sync enabled? or are you using Trakt scrobbler?

‘Sync my watch state and ratings’ is ACTIVE
