since a few server updates ago I started experiencing an issue where a movie or episode skips 2-3 minutes ahead every 30-something minutes. Very annoying.
anyone else seeing this or got a solution?

I've not seen this issue, I'm afraid.
Next time it happens could you please post PMS logs? What type of video are you playing back?
I see this too actually - regularly. I looked around, and it seems related to the transcoding strain on the CPU of the server. Since my serversa Raspberry Pi, that's no surprise. I tried playing using the Media Player app instead (via DLNA) and it's disappeared. No transcoding there I think (I'm still trying to understand what's transcoded and when!).

mostly mp4, with subtitles. I'll have a look for the logs

server is an i5 with 8GB of ram and SSD, should be enough I think
I see this too. Video jumps directly to 50:00 mark sometimes when I start playing it. I'll post the logs when I encounter this again.

Hey, this is another issue you can see here: https://forums.plex.tv/topic/138261-starting-video-half-way-through/
That´s not what´s happening for the OP.

I'm having another issue yes, sorry for late reply but I'm currently watching a lot of Netflix :) I'll post back the second I get this again and have some logs
This is still happening every time we watch something through Plex. I've attached a log for 9:13 this morning, when it happened again
I came to the forums to report the exact same issue, the other issue I'm experiencing is the video will freeze for anything from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. It's really becoming annoying. The strange thing is this is out main Xbox One with a wired connection where the son and daughters Xbox Ones are on wireless and not a single issue?
Seeing the freezing issue as well, it either freezes or jumps ahead
any feedback on this from the Plex team?
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app yesterday but the problem remained (and it's getting really annoying)...
Sorry to take a while getting back to you.
From looking over the logs it seems your server and transcoder are pretty happy, and easily keeping up with the job. This only really leaves the network that could be an issue.
How is your network currently setup? Can you try a wired connection for both XB1 and PMS and see if that changes anything?
PMS is connected wired, 1Gbps
Xbox One is connected wireless N, 5Ghz. Netflix is very happy with this connection, streaming HD without a problem. Plex used to be happy with this as well.
I don't have a lan connection near my console so it's a bit hard to test.
Would testing with the PS4 app (also on wireless) help anything?
I have same issue. Every now and then films in MKV format will just jump 2/3 minutes ahead. Sometimes it happens so seamlessly that I don’t realise I have missed a few minutes! Every now and then it also jumps back 5-10 seconds but normally it’s always forward.
My server and Xbox one are both connected by Ethernet at 1 Gbps. I can switch over and use Plex app on my 2011 Samsung at it plays the same film without any skips.
update: looks like I was wrong and it was a network issue. switched routers to a (much) better model and problem seems to be solved

Its also happens to me. Seamlessly with out noticing some times, it jumps 2-3 mins ahead. Not all the time, but often. Iv been using a Raspberry pi 2 for the past year and the issue is about 4 months old for me.
If this is happening with direct play MKVs then I’m afraid it’s likely the network at fault, somewhere along the way.
