When having a movie listed in the WATCHLIST and then deleting the movie from personal LIBRARY, movie listing remains in the WATCHLIST.
This causes USER to remove the movie from the WATCHLIST, when the listing should be removed automatically when the movie is physically deleted from the personal LIBRARY.
What’s your expectation and experience?
The Watch list is universal. It’s titles you want to watch. You can watch it on your own server, or on a freind’s shared server, or even on an online streaming service.
Removing a title from your personal server does not necessarily signify that you are no longer interested in watching it.
So you are saying if I delete it from my personal library, which I believe I don’t want the movie any longer or wish to watch it is why I’m deleting it, but because it is in my watchlist it should remain because I might change my mind later.
Ok, let’s say I buy your thinking, How about buying my thinking … Pop up an option to remove it from the watchlist when deleting a movie from the personal library. Otherwise, I’ll have to go to the watchlist and remove it myself.

I don’t think Otto was claiming that Plex leaves it in the watchlist BECAUSE it wants you to keep it in your list after removal. It’s more a technical reason for why.
The watchlist is an independent tool that intentionally does not correlate to what is on your own server. Since you can add items to this list that are on other services (or even not out, like Spiderverse 2), it means the items on the watchlist are not related to your server. So removing an item from your server will not reflect in the watchlist, since one is not dependent on the other.
I AGREE with your argument about the watchlist doing that though. The problem is just in the implementation. Plex tries to make it so your watchlist contents cannot suggest what your server contains for your own privacy. Having an item be removed from the list by an automated process would infer that you had it on your server at one time.
