Movie Sort Order Preference: Prefixes and Numerals

Please add a preference for how alphabetic sorts work.

I’d like to be able to have the title sort order match the folder sort order on my Macintosh.

This means that the titles “2 Fast 2 Furious” would come before “300”, and “300” would come before “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

I only want the option to toggle the sort order to “sort numbers as numbers” vs. “sort numbers as text” so I can get the listings to match the folder sort order.

Also I’d like a preference toggle to “sort ‘The’ and ‘A’ prefix as a prefix” vs. “sort ‘The’ and ‘A’ prefix text as a suffix”. Currently titles such as “The Jerk” as sorted as “Jerk, The.” This is fine but I’d like the option to sort exactly as it’s spelled when I am comparing to lists online, considering buying new discs, etc.

Early 2021 clean-up: implemented
at some point in the last year, Plex started doing a natural sort (vs. comparing strings letter by letter alphabetically).
