Dear Plex developers: Thanks for an amazing media center experience, can’t wait for the next release. Amazing app, and truly laying the groundwork for a media center experience that could be a game changer. Here’s a Plex feature that I love: I get to hear the theme music for a TV show when I select it and am reading the synpopsis. When I started running Plex, the first thing that I loaded was my TV collection - amazing. Naturally, when I started loading movies - I expected the same behavior as I browsed them. Do you have any plans to mirror the user experience for TV shows in the Movies section?
And apologies if this topic is posted somewhere else - I looked but couldn't find it.

One problem I see with this is the difference in viewing TV shows and Movies. TV shows are their own little sections of the library which provides a nice separated area for the TV theme to play. With movies the only real place themes could play is when you roll over a movie. Because of having to navigate through seasons and episodes you have a lot more time to hear a TV theme versus scrolling to a movie and just sitting there while you listen to a movie theme.
Good point Jay, but presumably there's a role for this in a detail view where you pause to read a summary. Also stuff like 007 collections, trilogies etc.
I don’t know of any streaming sites off the top of my head, could take a look though. Is there a way to scrape the audio from the file itself? Maybe from the menu on Video_TS folders?

I support this for collection browsing only. I don’t want it trying to load a mp3 every click as I browse the library.
From our polls it seems not too many people have a significant fraction of their library as DVD images, so we'd need to source them online as per TV shows.
However the upload and submission process has worked for TV shows, we should use that. There's not that many movie series.
This would be an awesome feature for a plex update or agent to add even more depth to our content via plex while we read the synopsis. I've found this site http://www.allmusic.com which has theme songs for both old and recent movie. example: 12 years a slave
I like the idea. The movie theme should play ONLY when you actually select the movie from the library and you are at the ready to read the details or select to play. Interesting.

I would love to hear the Jaws theme playing while reading the synopsis. I find it awesome listening to the themes of TV shows while browsing series but to be able to listen to a movie theme like Jaws or even Halloween while reading the synopsis would take it to another level.

I totally agree with this! All the developers would need to do is add the ability for us to use our own theme.mp3 file for movie folders. This already exists for TV shows so why not movies?
I would love to hear the score for Back to the Future when I click on any of the three films.
I’d love to be able to do this too. BTW, you can use VirutalDub to extract the sound from your movie and save it as mp3.
Any news on this? As a total movie addict I would really like to be able to add themes to my favourite movies. How great it would be to hear the 007 theme when opening a bond movie, for example! I totally agree that it would be fine to have support for a theme.mp3 just like for TV shows.
Plus one to this idea!! I would love to hear the great themes of say Disney movies or collections like Star Wars. It’s not a must have to be able to stream the soundtrack of every movie in the database, but indeed the ability to add a theme.mp3 for certain movies that would play in the detailed screen would be freaking awesome! Please developers make it
