Hello !
I have a problem on some movies that I want to play with plex web.
When I try to play the Harry Potter’s movies the movie stop playing near 10 seconds.
I searched in the console and I found an error : “[Transcoder] [mp4 @ 03386a00] Application provided duration: -1 / timestamp: 996994 is out of range for mov/mp4 format”.
My movies are mvk’s and almost 15Go each.
I’m playing on Original’s quality so there is no transcoder.
And when I play the movies from my phone or my TV it’s working fine.
I really don’t understand the problem.
That doesn’t mean the transcoder won’t be used. Original quality does not mean original file. Just means it will try to play at same bitrate as original.
Your phone can play many more files types than whatever web browser you are using and may be direct playing there.
I would first try to analyze the file and see if that helps at all (in the options menu for the movie)
Quit using a browser, and use the Windows Plex App (or whatever platform you’re on). It will play everything like it should. Browsers don’t support x265, they also don’t support 5.1 Audio. So if your movies are encoded in x265, it will transcode, and if your audio is more than stereo, it will transcode, also if you’re using some types of subtitles, it will transcode. You’re better off just using the player than the browser.
Go here: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app
Make sure it’s on “Apps & Devices” Make sure your platform is correctly selected on the left. Click download, and install it. This is NOT the media server, this is a playback client. It’s honestly the best way to watch from a Computer or Laptop.
Hello !
Thx for you reply andfor the information about the Plex browser.
All my movies are on x264 or H264 (I don’t know if there is a difference).
I have a 5.1 Audio in the movie but I do have the same thing in other movie and it works ! Same for subtitles.
I tried to play the movie with Windows Plex App but the sound is not good.
