Movie Titles

Hi all,

A strange problem, at least for me.

My movies match to the metadata correctly, but the title in plex is the date the file was created in all cases, (the filename is the title of the movie, btw). I do not have this issue with TV Shows.

If I fix incorrect match, it appears with the correct title in Plex, then changes to the date again.

If I edit it manually, then do fix incorrect match, it will change back to the date again.

Anybody have any clues?

Thanks.

What file type are your movies? If they are .mp4 or .m4v

Is ‘Local Media Assets’ on the top of the list under
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movies
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
?

If so, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up below the lines ‘Plex Movie’ and ‘TheMovieDatabase’.
Then Refresh the movie and wait ~ 3minutes.

mp4.

Local Media Asset was top of the list.

The refresh didn’t work, but I fixed incorrect match and that worked, so I’m hopeful it will work going forward.

Thanks.

Background info:
apparently your files contain the date as the file’s ‘title’.
Plex read this and used it, because the ‘local media assets’ was at the top (which means it has the highest priority).

Here is the dialog from Windows where you can set or delete the title tag. There are solutions available on every OS, though.

You might wanna either embed the correct movie title or simply delete all embedded metadata from the file(s).

Just been trying to tidy up my library cos of this issue also. does anyone know of a program for wiping the title from the details tab in bulk? I have changed the naming priority and refreshed my library which may solve it eventually but didnt immediately

Thanks

The above procedure with the Windows file properties dialog works on multiple files at once.

You can also use mp3tag
