Movie Title Not Being Pulled Correctly

Hi - not sure if this is the right category for the question - apologies if not, and mods please feel free to move.

I’ve been having an odd issue where certain movie titles are not being pulled correctly - here’s the best example. Movie is “The Greek Tycoon” - which for some reason is matching correctly with the metadata, but the title showing up is 23131 (see attached). I’ve tried fixing incorrect match, and it shows the correct title in there (see attached also), but it never updates the listing. I can manually adjust, it’s just an annoyance and figured I’d ask to see if anyone knew what was going wrong.

Thank you all!!!

the title and year specification you have matches IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077636/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The poster is correct for the 1978 film. Is the year of your film different? According to your path indicated, it’s the right name and year. This is a 100% match

The issue you’re seeing is because there is probably a ‘Name’ or ‘Title’ metadata tag in the file.

There are a couple ways of getting rid of this.

Easiest I’ve found is to spin it to an MKV (mkvmerge) then use mkvpropedit -s title="" to erase the bad property tag. Then put it back in Plex. (you’ll have to ‘Plex Dance’ it to make it pick it up fresh)

Super helpful - thank you. I’d recommend to Plex Devs that the tool proritize name pulled from metadata sources over the one in the file. Really appreciate it @ChuckPa

That mechanism is already provided. If you go to Settings - Server - Agents for each media type (movies and television), you can enable or disable as well as change the priorities of each.
