I have one movie that will not analyze and has the incorrect resolution and soundtrack listed.
This movie (like all the others) is a BluRay, burned with a Bueray player by Make MKV. I have all the info files and what have you so, update (I assume) is working. I have my setting to update the files every time I start up.
I double checked things and did find a typo in the .mkv file path. This has been corrected.
I suspect might be a broken drive causing this, is this the only file it is on? the fact that is says unavailable also leads to that, also can you upload logs from your plex server?
Should I take a look at my audio settings? I thought I was good to have Plex do the decoding
and send my receiver a PCM signal. I know I have the "“prefer ac3 sound tracks” unchecked.
I also DL and installed a new firmware for my LG bluray drive.
In my paid version of Make MKV there is an advanced setting that ask for the location of my DTS decoder. dll
I guess I’ll be researching that one. I have no idea where one would be or even if I have one.
First pass>
x264.exe --pass 1 --profile high --stats movie.stats --bitrate xxxx --preset slow -o NUL movie.avs
Second pass:
x264.exe --pass 2 --profile high --stats movie.stats --bitrate xxxx --preset slow --ref 5 --subme 7 --analyse all --no-fast-pskip -o movie.mkv movie.avs
Should catch all information, from a quick overview of your logs does not show anything too off that could cause this, I suspect a bad rip or bad storage media. eg corrupt sector
I think I stumbled upon a DTS problem. Apparently Make MKV (MMKV) does not decode DTS-MA without installing a dll file. This was confirmed by doing a google search and it taking me to Make MKV’s How to page. I have a paid version which unlocks some settings and I have no idea if the free version will let you add the dll file and point it to MMKV program to decode DTS-MA…
The RIP above is a DTS-MA sound track but I have posted in a discussion that Plex knows they have a problem recognizing DTS-MA soundtracks and an update is coming… When I did a RIP with MMKV and the DLL file installed I had two large titles titles to chose from. This was not there when I did the RIP via the free version. Both titles have the same amount of chapters and one was only (something like) 300MB larger. This one must have the DTS-MA file, I assume
AS far as the other audio files go, I did 99% with the free version of MMKV.
Except the last being the Iron Man DVD. That was ripped with the paid version of MMKV. That would explain the audio Sound track being DD 5.1.
It should be a Dolby True HD sound track with Iron Man but, they have AC3 listed in audio description. I remain hopeful but will try to find another DLL for decoding Dolby True HD.
Can any one answer the question is AC3 a lightly compressed DTHD soundtrack? I tried looking for a Dolby dll but trying to DL one set my Malware software off. Needless to say I didn’t finish installing that.

Time to uninstall and re-rip some Burays. I don’t like doing the same thing twice. lol
Well to put it in a simple way unless your receiver has support for dts hd / True HD, AC3 will do fine, on that note there should be an option for lossless audio (which is DTS HD / True HD(Atoms), I found this script might be of help.
I have a few rips with that setting
Codec TRUEHD
Channels 7.1
Language English
Audio Channel Layout 7.1
Bit Depth 24
Bitrate Mode VBR
Duration 1:59:00
Sampling Rate 48000 Hz
Title English TrueHD Atmos
and one with DTS HD
Codec DCA
Channels 7.1
Language English
Audio Channel Layout 7.1
Bit Depth 24
Bitrate Mode VBR
Duration 1:57:09
Profile ma
Sampling Rate 48000 Hz
Title DTS-HD MA 7.1
ps, All my movies with hd audio is detected correctly.
I do my ripping with Handbrake/mkvmerge, works fine for me, and allows for pretty much all codecs for audio/video.
I’m going to check out Handbrake. I had it DL’ed once and went with Make MKV. Mkv merge I’m unfamiliar with. Copy-written DVD’s?
I don’t get a DTS-MA codec. Just (from what I understand) DTS and AC3. They work together to make up a DTS-MA soundtrack. AC3 is a compressed codec though. IDK.
It might be in my settings too. My receiver will do a 7.1 but I have a 5.1 speaker setup. I chose 5.1 when setting up audio in PMS.
My receiver is ancient too. It does not support DTS-MA but it does support PCM. With my Bluray player I could bitstream or send a PCM soundtrack to get DTS-MA… Now all my movies are on a NAS.
