I’m not sure how to address this. It seems to happen occasionally after I’ve accessed a movie. For instance I have a Disney Animation Studios collection which has all the main Disney animations produced under that studio. Last week I noticed Chicken Little was no longer in that category. Today I was adding movies to a Zombie Movies collection and when I was done I noticed 2 movies from that collection were no longer in another collection I had them. I know for a fact I’m not accidentally deleting collections it’s Plex doing it. I know this has to be a hard question to address. Has anyone else had problems like this? How should I diagnose the problem. I don’t want movies I add to collections to ever be removed from them.
Anybody? This just happened again with House on Haunted Hill today.
I finally caught this happening on video:
I wish I would have hit cancel and not save to illustrate that the movie leaves the collection when hitting cancel as well. I clicked through 15 or so movies and this is the only movie that lost it’s collection from those 15. This doesn’t happen to all my movies but has been happening with some. It also removes them from the collection if I just click into the the movie to go to that specific movie’s page. I don’t have to click edit. Just accessing some movie do this. Once I set the collection again it seems to not pop back out. But I’ve had movie in collections for years and then suddenly they won’t be in the collection anymore. This started happening 3 months ago or so. I’ve had this server for nearly 4 years and didn’t have these problems in the past. It’s really bothering me and screwing up some of my organization. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I’m at a total loss.
Could it be you have Empty trash automatically after scanning library enabled and those files might have been temporarily unavailable to Plex?
If Plex drops them and finds them again as part of an automatic or periodic scan, the manually added information (e.g. your collection tags) will no longer be linked to the new record.
That setting isn’t enabled I just checked to make sure.
Which scanner/agent is set for the library?
Plex Movie. I’ve attached a screenshot below showing how the agents within Plex Movie are arranged.
for the ones that did not get removed was the lock icon on the collection tag field orange? (orange = locked) Trying to think of why a collection field might become unlocked.
Yes they were all locked. I’ve never intentionally unlocked a collection edit after editing. Thanks for your input.
