Recent scan has grouped a large percentage of my movies into single item collections. I do have “The Movie DB” agent with "Use Collection Info From TMDB unchecked. I though that was also part of the Library definition (Advanced), but I don’t see it there.
Is there another setting I need to turn off to prevent this?
PS: A nice feature update might be adding a Settings specific search. It’s difficult sometimes to find a setting having to navigate through the entire Settings menu structure. Something like Android, and I believe Apple, added several years ago.
If your files are MP4/m4v, they can have embedded metadata.
If your files have the “Album” meta tag populated, Plex will put it into a collection named after the content of the Album tag.
Regular tag editors like Subler on Mac or mp3tag on other platforms should be able to show that.
If you don’t want Plex to use embedded metadata for that library, you can disable it in the advanced options of that library (⋮ > Manage Library > Edit... → Advanced > uncheck/disable Prefer local metadata). That being said, this should only apply to future additions; not sure if refreshing the metadata after disabling the option will also remove already loaded metadata; I’m quite positive, it won’t remove those collections of yours.
