Movies played from local computer (server) stop before end of movie

I have my movie collection ripped to MKV and I store them on my computer (server) and stream to my player which uses the Plex app on my Sony Bravia TV.
Many times the movie I’m watching will stop playing just before the end of the movie (with like 5 minutes left to play). The Player app exits back to the main screen when this happens.
I’ve been trying to figure this out - and now I believe it only happens with movies longer than 2 hours. I.e. a 2hr-10min movie ends after 2 hours. The movie will play to end if I’m watching it on the server computer. The server and TVs are hard wired on a 1GB network.

The Plex server and Sony TV App are the latest versions from Plex.
Any ideas? Has anyone else had this happen?

This issue feels like it could be related to the issue we have been experiencing in the Plex app on the Nvidia Shield where it will become unresponsive it you try to rewind when you are near the end of a video.
