Help, After updating to DSM 7 on my Synology DS1019+ yesterday and updating PLEX latest update my music will play but my movies and other videos will not. I get an error message Media unavailable. The file associated with this item is not accessible by the server. Please verify that the file exists and the necessary drive is accessible. I know the file exists because I can play the movie or video using VLC player in windows. and my music on the same server will play. What can I do besides a hard reset and start over. Help please.
Do not install Plex from Synology Package Center. That version is outdated. Download the current version from plex.tv and perform a manual install.
Make sure the user PlexMediaServer has full control of the /PlexMediaServer shared folder.
Update: Don’t touch the /PlexMediaServer shared folder. DSM maintains the correct permissions. Thanks to @ChuckPA for correcting me.
Make sure the user PlexMediaServer has R/W access to your media folders.
