Moving from freebase to Wikidata?

Since this happened today:

I'm wondering if there is any development to replace the freebase plugin with a wikidata one?

Really? No response to this? Freebase will be going Read-only on the 31st of THIS month and yet no word from Plex...

Not sure how big a factor it is since most of the agents under Freebase provide all the movie info/art needed. Maybe they need  to rename it something else since freebase will no longer be active but I always had it towards the bottom of my list.

One week to go. Any thoughts/news?

Not only do we go readonly in a few days but on June 30th the site/APIs themselves are "retired". I've seen google say they are "retiring" an API in the past but it still remains online for quite awhile, so who knows what that actually means. Just that no support is expected if things don't work anymore I guess. But this is needing addressed sooner by the day.

I don't really remember anymore, but isn't the Freebase agent the default agent for movies? Really the only thing themoviedb primry agent is missing is MoviePosterDB for high quality posters.

Funny thing about the primary Freebase agent too...its in the IMDB.bundle. Pretty hilarious naming, probably from some old legacy stuff. The nice thing about IMDB.bundle though is if the initial title matching fails from freebase it will do a straight google search against site:imdb.com to match the title (also apparently matches tmdb guid's as well as imdb tt urls in nfo's). So even if someone is still using Freebase as the primary agent the title matching should still work (granted that you can google search the title against imdb.com), and then all the additional agents will pick up the metadata like usual. We just lose out on all the nicely curated metadata we'd normally get from Freebase, themoviedb as a secondary agent makes up for most of these though I think.

I hope they continue to support Freebase, otherwise it will be a lot of work switching back to IMDB as my primary agent. IMDB hates the way I name files, "Movie Title Year", the year throws IMDB off every single time, until I switched to Freebase and no longer had to manually match every movie I put into plex.

I really don't want to spend hours either renaming or re-matching all of my content again.

Any update?

Any update?

About what? If you are referring to if the Plex Inc. know about Freebase retirement, then the answer is yes. :)

Exist a new agent for Wikidata?

Do we have a chance to have a Wikidata agent integrated to plex ?
Because The movie database don’t give me french movie name.
Freebase worked perfectly , but now i couldn’t have french title anymore !

Yes, freebase, the primary OFFICIAL Plex agent, worked perfectly before but now don’t work anymore.

Do we have a chance to have Wikidata like primary OFFICIAL Plex agent?

Bump? Seriously, this is getting sad.

No Wikidata agent.

was the interest in freebase bc it offered alternate languages?
Otherwise I’m confused as to why it’s such a bit loss. FYI, there is a new wiki agent recently made.

Freebase.com was officially shut down on 2 May 2016.

Today we will shut down freebase.com and the Freebase APIs. This is later than originally announced [1], but the launch of the KG Search API [2] also took longer than anticipated.

The Freebase data was openly licensed and belongs to all of us, so we’ll be leaving the data dumps available indefinitely. In addition to the last regular data dump that’s been available ever since Freebase went read only [3], we’ve added a complete final graphd dump that includes all of the tuple metadata for anyone who really wants a forensic challenge [4]. If you have no idea what graphd tuples are, you probably shouldn’t bother looking at it.

It was fun! And to keep contributing to open knowledge bases, remember to check out Wikidata (wikidata.org)!
