Occasionally I have a need to move media on my server. I would like to do that, without Plex flagging every single item as a new movie.
When I do it, here is my current process:
I take down plex.
I move the files.
I edit the plex database, and change the location inside of media_parts to point to the new location.
I bring plex up.
But still, even though I do this, Plex figures out that I moved them, and flags every single media item as a new item on the dashboard.
What am I missing here?
Oh, when I pull up the details on ‘create’ or ‘modified’ dates, they are the original dates, not the date of when I moved them.
Yea, sorry, that doesn’t work, that post should be updated or removed.
I originally did exactly that. But every media item I moved, did NOT re associate with it’s original record. Posters changed back to default, titles changed back to default, but more importantly, on the dashboard, they showed up as ‘new’.
So that’s why I started going into the database and updating the path, hoping that way it would keep all of the meta data in sync. But it doesn’t work either. It still goes out to TVDB/MovieDB and resyncs everything, and flags it as new.
There is something else Plex is looking at to determine when it’s new.
