Moving Plex from Win7 to Win 10 or create new server

Hi, I hope you can help me. I had Plex running on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer but the PSU has just died and a replacement won’t arrive until next week. I have a newer Windows 10 Pro build which I have put into the server’s case and now I want to move Plex across to it. I downloaded and installed Plex but it complained that, although it could see the server, it couldn’t connect to it (not really surprising).

I found a backup of the original computer and planned to copy Plex’s data directory across but found that, since the old one was a 32 bit copy (installed many years ago), the directory structure looks different.

I then thought I’d just rebuild it from scratch so I deleted what Plex thought was my server but I can’t work out how to set up a new one - apparently normally a wizard runs when you first install Plex but of course I logged into my old account so it didn’t run. I tried uninstalling Plex and installing a fresh copy in the hope that the wizard would run, but no such luck.

If it comes down to it I guess I could set up a new account and start again from scratch but I share a few friends’ servers so it would mean asking them to give me access again and I’m sure there must be a better way.

So, can I copy my old data directory across and if so, exactly which folder and where to put it? Alternatively, how do I create a new server under my existing account?

Thanks in advance,
Simon.

Server version: Plex-1.38.0.2734-ec4489fe-x86_64.exe installed
Player version: Not installed

That is the player not the server.

Ah, that would explain it, thanks (stressfull day with the server dying). Installing the server now.
