Moving Plex library from NAS to Computer

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764
NAS: Synology DS1815+ running DSM 6.2.3-25426
Player Version#: Multiple device types and app versions

Is there a good guide for moving PMS from a NAS to Linux, without losing anything?

I’ve been running Plex on Synology NAS as a native app for some years, love both and brought a lifetime membership. I’ve built a dedicated PC to run Plex from (Ubuntu) in the hopes of improved performance and I need to move the library from the NAS to the PC.
The PC has lots of RAM & CPU, a good power supply and a local SSD. I will use NFS or iSCSI to connect the PC to the NAS so that I can continue to keep my media on the NAS.

While setting up a new library is easy enough. I want to ensure I keep all the metadata including the users playlists, ratings, what they have watched/partially watched, the meta of the media itself etc… Basically my family should not see any difference from the move other than it (hopefully) runs a little faster.

Help? Thanks

There are many post in the Linux server section on doing exactly what you are inquiring about. Just search and read. No method is perfect but you will get the just of what the process is. It is involved but possible with a few hiccups along the way likely but you typically won’t loose data if you are careful. My only suggestion is that if you have a way of making a clone of your Plex install and directories, I’d do that before beginning, just in case.
