Sorry. Here is my directory listing.audio.txt (175 Bytes)
Based some advice on redit, I changed all privileges to plex, manually input the drive name, even though plex showed it to me in ‘add library’, but not the library that holds my music.
Nothing makes any difference.
ChuckPa. Have you had any luck with this? Was there anything in my logs?
How do I find out what the message ‘Library Empty’ means when trying to add a library to pms music? The same music library was used by pms, with no issues, on another pc. It can see the drive in ‘add library’ cannot expand it any further., so I cannot see the top level library that holds my music.
Still not getting anywhere with this. If it is an ownership issue of something like metadata, the PMS metadata folder is down a chain of folders. Do they all have to be plex:plex?? In what circumstances is this ‘Empty’ message produced?? Does anyone Know???
Any news, ChuckPa?
Can somebody from Plex please find out under what conditions pms produces the error message library ‘EMPTY’ when trying to add a folder to a music library?
I am VERY sorry. I never received a notification until now.
You have “Permission Denied”.

On Linux, especially when the graphical (Nautilus) desktop is involved, use of the /media directory (which the automounter does) causes problems:
-
Everything in
/media/robis exclusively owned by your username – Plex can’t get access even with permissions -
When you sign out – anything mounted is unmounted.
-
The only way around this is to manually mount in another directory. You can use
/media/plexif you want – as long as /etc/fstab does the mount during system startup
Please use this as your guide:
That’s great news. Many thanks for your help. I’ll let you know how I get on.
I followed your tips, and it is now working, as it should!! Many thanks again for your help.
One point I’d like to make is that why couldn’t the pms error message say exactly what the issue was, rather than a some what generic error message of library ‘empty’. Why can’t the log message be output by pms?
I’ll close off this issue, and thank you again, ChuckPa.
