Moving watched files to a different folder/library

I know there was a topic a long while back by someone who wanted to do the same-ish thing I would like to suggest as a feature or would like to know if there is a script to do the following.

Basically, I would like to be able to set up rules to do the following:

  1. Automatically move watched files to a new location based on the library and original folder and drive. (i.e. movies library originally has files in F:\movies\ and I want it to move watched files to F:\movies_watched. If the files are on G:\movies\ then I want it to move those particular files to G:\movies_watched. (I have libraries that span multiple drives.) Then the entries in the movies library should be moved to watched_movies.)

  2. Maintain metadata (i.e. Episode watched, etc.) and any other data library scans creates (i.e. Intro and credits data.) after moving the file and library so it does not require rescanning by the server.

I know I technically can sort files by watched/unwatched, but if I recall correctly, the last time I tried that it didn’t work correctly on my TV and I also don’t think it worked on the recommended tab. Additionally, having the ability to have multiple libraries based on watched/unwatched would be much more convenient.

Filtering works fine.
If you want some modified recommendations / Home Screen, you can create a smart collection (e.g. recently added + unwatched), and publish that.

As for the feature… there’s an existing feature suggestion where you can comment/vote.

Thanks for the link to the suggestion. I’ll go ahead and vote on that. I haven’t tried filtering in a long while. Just recall that it didn’t seem to work when I tried it last.

Give it a try and share if you’re having issues.
