MP3 Tags are not recognized?!

Hi all
I try hard to bring Plex doing what I want - and I think this is not unreachable.
I tagged all my MP3 Tags and have a proper library.
Album Artist is always the Interpret.
Artist could be a combination of Interprets etc.
Discnumber, Year, Title are maintained - and also Cover’s are for each album embedded into the MP3 files.

I now have the following situation (just one of many examples):
ABBA
I put all remastered Albums under one Folder
Album Artist: ABBA
Album: Remastered Albums
Year: 2001
Disc: 1 … 8
Cover: I used a selfmade cover

Also there is a Albums Box
Album Artist: ABBA
Album: The Albusm Box
Year: 2008
Disc: 1 … 9
I downloaded the original cover for the Albums

But Plex uses for both the same covers (the one from the Albums Box, the Same Year (2001) and the same Album name: REmastered Albums

I do have my self made cover available in the “Plakat” section of edit album, but have to choose it.
And why is the album name for both the same, even when they are in totally different folders and have different tag information?

I have set my plex media to use embedded words and also on the server I set the agents in Interpret and Album to use first “Local Media Assets”.

So why are my tags not recognized?
Any idea?

Thank you
Roger

Plex doesn’t know the concept of ‘Boxes’.
You have more luck when treating the albums as albums. If you have several different editions of the same album, usually an appended ‘(Remaster 2001)’ to the album title does the trick.

Usually, you can leave the albums on disc within their ‘Box’ folder structure. Just the tags need to be revamped.

Thank you, I read a lot about this.
The only thing I don’t understand is, why does Plex not recognize / accept local tags if they are completed and process them as first priority?
So my above album would call “Remastered Albums” and Year 2001 having disc 1…8. Why does Plex not call it like this??? Even if the agent settings are set to “local media assets” as first?

If this is a premium music library, you want this checkbox ticked in the properties of your library:

Hi
Thank you - but this check box in the premium area is checked - and still the remastered albums are recognized as the normal albums (as described above).
Somehow Plex scans the tags but at the end it mappes the album with an online service - even if the local agent is set as the first one.
I’d like to have the Album “Remastered” with the disc 1 … 8 in the album.
Any idea? Maybe the order of the agents?
Should the local be at the end?
Thx
R

No, ‘local assets’ must be first (on top).

Be advised that some agent changes and esp. the ‘metatag’ checkbox only have an influence on completely new items.
So you must

  • remove all files of the album,
  • update the library,
  • empty library trash,
  • movie the files back and
  • update library again

to see a change.
