Configuring appropriate players
Hi,

I am trying to play back some MPEG2 TS H.264 streams but it is failing... here is the Plex.log excerpt:

Do I need to configure the Plex app to use VLC player? If so, how do I do that?

I tried doing the same thing a few months ago trying to get MakeMKV streams working in Plex. Come to found out that Plex uses an older version of ffmpeg that has several bugs with mpeg-ts files. so basically this wont work until Plex updates ffmpeg (if that does indeed fix it).

there is no way to switch Plex to use VLC for rendering. You might be able to compile plex with a newer version of ffmpeg but good luck on doing that.
