I’m evaluating the purchase of a synology ds418 vs ds418play, and trying to get my head around how it relates to Plex. If I understand correctly, this thread/beta is about getting Plex running on ARMv8, but it will not support the hardware transcoding included in the ds418, due to Synology not opening that up?
Correct. Synology has not made their proprietary hardware transcoding engine API available.
Fresh Installed latest Beta on MacPro running latest version of High Sierra. Just added my libraries and doing initial scan, the OS is completely unresponsive, even the clock isn’t updating. When I access the web GUI remotely I can see the server is currently scanning my Music library and adding albums. Not a huge collection, ~1250 albums. Any ideas?
Any ideas when we’ll see a Arm8 update released? Last updated was 6 Nov 2018
I am testing it now. JUST got it today.
Had to fix the ARMv8 toolkit so the same binary would work on both RealTek and Annapurna (which handle memory diffferently)
I got a problem with the Synology DS218. Sometimes the Plex server is showing offline. The plex process is still running but i cant connect to it locally.
I have put up a task in DSM to restart Plex every night but this seems not to fix the problem.
I’m using PlexMediaServer-1.14.0.391-7623e9224-aarch64.spk.
This problem is really annoying and the only thing to fix it, is to manually restart Plex from DSM.
Other then that i don’t have any issues. Is this a known issue or is it just me?
Just for a reference: I am running DS118 with fresh Plex installation (same version as you) on rather small media library. So far I haven’t experienced described issue.
Well, with the new dashboard coming to the latest PMS package, I’m super torn about whether or not to uninstall this build…
I’d like to play around with it and compare to Tautulli, but don’t want to downgrade to a lower performance build. @ChuckPa, I know you’ve been working hard, and we all appreciate it! Any chance we might magically get that new build with the dashboard soon?
Sorry to be a pest…
Dashboard? News to me … but I’m the slow kid on the block anyway so I’m not surprised.
About “errors” and “Restarting PMS”?
May I see some log files please? I can’t help with / fix what I can’t see.
Thanks
“I’m the slow kid on the block”. Haha! I doubt that’s true… you always seem on top of things!
That being said, that comment doesn’t bode well for getting any hot, fresh PMS code all neatly packaged.
Oh well, better to not push code when it’s not ready; need to learn to be patient.
anyone with links to Plex Media Server 1.14.0.5468?
I have been busy with all the repacking (this thread) work.
Right now I’m trying to convince a Thecus to play nice .
(you know, not delete your metadata every time you update it? That kind of “play nice”)
@ChuckPa Do you have a link to the updated package? Merry Christmas all!
I’m looking for the updated package as well?
Can you do a build for WD My Cloud Home Duo with Realtek RTD1195 processor. Its back on build 1.12.2.4964
Hi, I bought a DS418 and it’s currently running the alpha plex server 1.13.3.146-987af09d9 how old is this version and how do I get a newer version? Sorry I’m new to the whole plex server thing.
Per this post, this is the latest alpha package that is publicly available (as far as I know). @ChuckPa has been busy working on repacking with some newer version of PMS, but don’t know which. Maybe if we are lucky a build will drop early in 2019. There are some newer builds that are in the standard build channel.
tl;dr there is a slightly newer alpha build that I linked to above.
Oh ok thanks, would I have to uninstall the previous version first or would this overwrite it?
@waqster94 No, you shouldn’t need to. However, there is a best practice to be aware of.
From this forum, download the package to a computer, then, in DSM, go to package center. Go to installed, select Plex and press stop. This (as far as I understand) helps the install to go smoothly and should help prevent Plex from getting corrupted. After stopping the package run the manual install over the top of the existing package, and start Plex again.
You should be all set. Also, sorry if that’s too much detail and you already know… =)
Thank you! works great so far. Keep up the good work.
