Much faster (hopefully), smaller (mostly) and better PMS builds preview (1.15.0.573-123756e9a)

I hope we can get the fix of port mapping in this beta track soon.

for feedback, I installed the 1.14.0.391 build on a new debian 9 installation and it seems to be working without issues.

When will Plex Media Server be officially available in the Package Center on Synology DS118?

I’m pumped to use my DS118 for plex as well!

The TS-832X issue has been resolved.

The details are:

  1. The Annapurna processor has a 64 KB memory alignment (page size)

  2. The RealTek processor has the standard 4 KB memory alignment (page size)

  3. Regression testing revealed this to hold true for other ARMv7 systems as well.

  4. We are doing basic ā€œDoes it run?ā€ testing now

Once this is done, we can move forward again. This was a show-stopper

@ChuckPa Can’I test it ?
If yes Witch version should i test ?

@ChuckPa any chances of a new build in the bear future?

Yes… IF I am in sync with everyone, 1.14.1 will be seen shortly but that’s not confirmed yet (was just in my team meeting)

Running the latest preview build for the last 1 month on my mac mini late 2012 or so and it’s the best server version yet. Never had any problems, slowdowns or crashes. With the regular version I encountered some strange server hangs from time to time, not so with this build.

Well done plex! Now I wait for a regular version or and updated build.

Hello, I have been unable to get access to the plex beta channel, when i go to search for these versions at download center they aren’t there and on my plex server when i go to settings and try to enable beta channel it just keeps telling me that my changes cant be saved. Is there a link or anything to where these are available, I am a plexpass member, thanks

The builds talked about in this thread are not the normal beta channel, but are in the first post. To download, scroll up and download the appropriate file from those links.

Yes I can see that, I’ve got a QNAP TS-332X and with the 1.13.6.176 build the PMS mostly works, the only two issues are that it says remote access is not available even though it works for the most part and it just stalls out on any 4k or UHD video. The list of downloads points to 1.14.0.391, which I tried but as others has mentioned it just doesnt work at all, it intsalls ok but then just says the sever refused connection and won’t allow you to even begin setup. Thats why i was interested in trying 1.14.0.5468, as it seems like they may have resolved some of my issues, but can’t find anywhere to download that and would like to know where to get my hands on the previously mentioned 1.14.1 when realeased. Thanks

The TS-332x, like the TS-832x, uses the Annapurna ARMv8 CPU

Do not expect it to transcode 2160p. As shown during the alpha test, it can transcode up to about 20 Mbps of 1080p.

thanks, and how to download latest builds?

just bought it about a week ago, still trying to figure it all out

@ChuckPa so… The ever present question, which I probably know the answer to, is… Is the new PMS that just dropped from this new branch, or is it still the old build system?

Trying to decide if I should update to that build or not. :sunglasses: (My gut tells me, no.)

The old build system uses 4-digit build numbers, the new one currently uses 3-digit.

So, no.

I’m seeing what looks like networking errors in your logs. Specifically brief internet connection losses.

It’s just enough of an issue to cause PMS to reset itself .

Can you get into DSM and do a sustained ping of www.google.com and see if it loses any packets (the counters) ?

Hi,

That’s odd. I haven’t noticed any internet connectivity loss. I have a very stable FTTH connection.

I just SSH-ed into the NAS and pinged google.com for a few minutes with 0 packet loss.

Just to reiterate, the problem I’m seeing now is with recorded live TV content, watching it while its being recorded or watching after the recording is complete.

Time shifting doesn’t work well at all. Instant replay ends up fast-forwarding a little.

One other thing: since the most recent Roku update (where the interface drastically changed), I can’t time-shift live TV at all. Fast forward, reward, instant replay all do nothing when I hit the button on the remote.

I am the OS guy. I primarily do the package installers for the different NAS boxes as well as support those NAS units at the OS level

I no longer have CATV so can’t help (verify) with LiveTV . Any questions regarding it should be in a fresh LiveTV tagged thread
The Roku issue itself is best asked as a separate thread in ā€œStreaming Devicesā€ with tag ā€œRokuā€ as well
