Hello,
I`m running PLEX Pass on my QNAP. I want to give access to the content for my Mom who has a 2017 curbed Samsung TV

All my 4K Material will not play on her TV if access through PLEX. If i connect a HDD to the TV those files play with no problem.

I have secure connections to preffered. I don’t understand why the files cannot be transcoded properly for the TV…

Any ideas?

What model QNAP?

Transcoding video, especially 4K HDR, is very compute intensive.

Many NAS have low power CPUs, which have limited transcoding capability.

Without the right CPU or GPU and a Plex Pass (for hardware accelerated transcoding and tonemapping), transcoding 4K media is not realistic.
