Multiple DVR Tuners and Difference Guides using Different Zip Codes

I am trying to add a second tuner to my system, have one local and one at a remote location. The first one added (either remote or local) will install without any issues, but once I install the 2nd tuner, it gets hosed because there isn’t an option per tuner for guide and channel mapping, so what ever ZIP code used I used for the first one is locked into each additional tuner.

Would be nice if each tuner had the option for ZIP code during install instead of a global option. Even if I didn’t have a remote location (which is beyond the scope of typical installation), there might be a option where someone could possibly run into this situation if they are in a area they can pull a signal from a long ways away that might not be part of their local OTA guide.

Also know that I could run another PMS and host the 2nd tuner and use the client to bounce between the servers, but would prefer to use the hardware that I bought for PMS (Synology 918+) to make it cleaner and simpler to manage.

Also if there is a remote and a local tuner (both accessible via TCP and broadcasts) and new DVR installation, even if I put in the remote SiliconDust extend IP address in the box, it will always pick the local one no matter what. There should be an option to un-select the local one and use the remote one independently of each other.

In those cases you have the option of using a XMLTV file as opposed to the Gracenote provided guide data. I have never tried this personally but as I understand you could use a XMLTV Provider to build a custom file with multiple zip codes. To use this file you would have to remove the existing DVR setup, your recordings will still be saved. During the setup select the link for using XMLTV.

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately it would be next to impossible to use the XMLTV GUIDE client without using a PC to upload the XMLTV GUIDE to my Synology NAS on a regular basis. Was trying to do it self-contained if possible, and this would be more practical if using PC based PMS verses NAS version. Hopefully the Plex development team will consider adding per tuner guide option if enough of us ask for it…

I will try your suggestion to see how it works, but not ready to tackle that tonight.

I checked out XMLTV, and it seems to be mostly overseas. Stateside, like every company charges for their service - which after paying for a plex pass really hate to do (even if it is nominal).

Hopefully the developer(s) look at the forums and consider making a code change to do per tuner EPG.

I did check out the XMLTV option (used TVGuide ), the problem is that I can get XMLTV for area 1 and for area 2, but they are two different files and no good way to combine them without a Linux box. And it takes away from using just one host for PMS.
