Hello,
I added my collection in the plex media server and I have in the list of artists in my library multiple entries for the same letter. By exemple, i have at the beginning of the list, artists ordered with A letter and later I have again artists ordered with A letter. It seems that I have the alphabet repeated…
Do you know why I have those multiple entries?
Thanks for your help !

Inspect the artists which are listed under these “letters before A”.
Edit them and look into the ‘Sort Artist’ field. They could contain characters which might look like a latin letter, but are actually not. You can try to overwrite them by re-typing the artist’s name directly with your keyboard.
Then save and see if the artist changes its place within the library.
Are you living in a country which uses a different alphabet than latin?
Have you “acquired” music files from people which might be using a different alphabet? Because these characters could have been introduced by your music files’ embedded meta tags.
Thanks a lot from your answers.
I tried what you suggested but it doesn’t not change anything.
I’m french and at the beginning I used the french langage to use the last.fm agent. Peharps it’s coming from here.
You can see below that I have in the first part of this list of users some of them starting with S in the beginning of the list.
We can found later in the list other artists starting with a S.
If I open an artist (ex: the smashing pumpkins) in the first part of the list, I have :
And if I open an artist (ex: The Shins) in the second part of the list, I have :
We can notice a difference in the display of the fon used in the sort by field. I don’t know if it is the reason why they are not under the same S…
Any idea ?
The third screenshot shows that a space character was inserted before every letter of the “Sort Artist”. Even before the capital S.
Which makes Shins appear at the beginning of the list, because the space character comes pretty much first in the list of characters.
You’re right. This is this entry that causes the problem.
when i did my test, i tried to change the first ones (ex:smashing pumpkins) and it was on the second part of the list where the issue is. Unfortunetely for me… this is the bigger part of my library which is finally not well sorted…
Lot of work on my side to align everyhting but issue fixed ! thanks OttoKerner
